Solid Surfaces

Solid Surface was invented by DuPont in 1967 under the name of Corian. Corian was first introduced to for public  sale in 1971 at the National Association of Builder’s Meeting in Houston, Texas. Corian did not become a well known household name until the early 80’s. Back then you had a choice of 3 colors, however, by the 90’s it popularity had grown as did the color selection & competition. Since the expiration of their patent in the mid 90’s, other manufacturers have also introduced their brands as well.
Solid surface is a man-made material usually composed of a combination of:
  • Alumina Trihydrate (ATH)

  • Acrylic, Epoxy or Polyester Resins

  • Pigments
